To blog or not to blog. To write, perchance to blog. Okay, everybody seems to be blogging nowadays, so why not me? Why not, indeed.
Yes, it’s my first – I’m a virgin blogger! Gotta start somewhere – sometime – someplace. Great, just as I start writing this my eldest cat Mauser comes to sit on my lap, which at this moment is occupied by my MacBook. Does this change my laptop to a cattop? Probably not…& the MacBook doesn’t knead me the way my black cat (mouse catcher) does. No – a “mouse catcher” isn’t something that you dangle from the rear view mirror of your car! That’s a Sun Catcher!
Uh-oh, now the other black cat, Mini-Mau is on the table next to the Morris chair I’m writing this from – trying to roll some AA Energizer batteries onto the floor to chase under the table! Oh, well, he grew disinterested in that endeavor and is now just sitting there watching me type on the keyboard. He’s deep in thought, planning when best to pounce upon the pet Mac! I’d better save this before he does…
Okie Dokie, I’m back! Didja miss me? Nah – that’s alright it’s not like I was away for any length of time. I started off the evening putting Icy Hot on my right shoulder (that’s the one that hit the stair last Sunday night when I fell) and plopping into my favorite chair and jumped back into the book I’m reading. Oh, ya wanna know what I’m reading, huh? It’ s titled “Hardcore Troubadour: The Life & Near Death Of Steve Earle” by Lauren St. John. Steve is one of my favorite singers; he writes some great songs and is a good story teller. His songs range from rock and country to folk and bluegrass and as you can tell by the subtitle of the book his life hasn’t been exactly trouble-free! Unlike some music artist’s I’ve admired over the years Steve is still alive in spite of all his wreckless overindulgences. He’s a surviver. I’ve downloaded some great live shows of his from “Dime-A-Dozen” (oh don’t get me started on this subject yet…not enough time tonight!) over the past few months. If I ever get the chance I’d like to see him live.
So, anyway, while I’m busy reading my wife boots up the laptop and while downloading her e-mail somehow we broach the subject of blogging. She’s had a blog for about a month now and we decided I had no functional reason not to start one of my own. Not that I have anything to say, it’s just that now I have someplace to not say it! You get the picture? One plan is to have a link to the latest pictures of my equine family: Pickle (my 6 year old Thoroughbred), Buster (Pickle’s younger brother – way taller but only 5 y/o!) and Lacey my wife Pam’s 24 year old Arabian mare.
I don’t know where this will end up but I do plan to send it to the few friends I know who have blogs and then, who knows? Not I, for certain!
It’s nearing 3 A.M. Sunday morning and I need to be at the stables by 9 A.M. which leaves me about 5 hours to snooze – that’s like a full nights rest for me! Some neighboor’s Stupid, Loud and really obnoxious car alarm has been on for the past 15 minutes so it’s not too likely that I’ll be able to sleep while it persists. This is a perfect example why nobody pays any attention to car alarms any longer – I find myself wishing somebody would steal this guys car to get the alarm out of my hearing range. That’s it from me for now as I can no longer keep my mind on the task at hand.
Good morning!
